5 Ways to Discover Your Economic Passion - John Dessauer

Jan 01, 2022

Economic passion is nothing more than getting paid for doing what you love. When people do what they love, there is very little talk of boredom, drudgery, or even retirement. It is critical for you to take some time and discover your passions and how profit from it.

Very rarely do people take time to discover what they really want to do with their lives. I think that is one of the things that many people think about at the end of their life. They regret that they didn’t do something. I have been fortunate in that I have really accomplished many of my passions.

Things such as real estate, writing, children and building companies. Passions and goals seem to keep evolving, such as my next ventures that I am currently building and planning. I wanted to take you through my thought process in as I go into the next phase of my life. I think it will give you some good insight into developing your economic passion.
Here is my list of things you can do to help you in your journey:

  1. Take The Saturday Morning Approach. Stop doing what your doing for a moment. Breath. Now think of the three thing you most like to do in life. What drives you? What relaxes you? What puts a smile on your face? For me I had to reach back to Saturday mornings when I was a kid and think about what went through my mind. I think for me it was creation and imagination. I remember how every Saturday morning as a kid I was energetic and excited because I knew the day was mine. I knew that I could do anything I wanted because it was Saturday (I really got crazy after my two bowls of sugary cereal -ha, ha). Guess what? Everyday is yours! Treat it as such!

  2. Forget About the Money. As my quote says at the end of everyone of my blogs, wealth has nothing to do with money. It is so true. I have been learning that as I have gotten older. If you think about your passions first and think about how your passions may benefit other people, money will automatically follow. By chasing passions instead of money you will find the stress seems to melt away. Money is a leading source of stress for Americans, according to a 2007 survey by the American Psychological Association. In the survey, 73% of the respondents cited money as a significant source of stress in their lives. Stress is public enemy number one for passion.

  3. Involve People Who Surround Yourself With. Ask the people that you surround yourself with one question. When have you seen me at my happiest? Take the answer(s) that you are given and start from there. Try it this weekend when you are with friends or at a family function. You may be surprised by the answers.

  4. Test Drive the Space Shuttle. While you are thinking about your passions, go to the nth degree in getting information about it. By going to the best of the best, you can probably be assured you will be given accurate information and probably learn a lot. Don’t sell yourself short, make your passion something that drives everything you do. If its an astronaut that you want to be or love space, ask to test drive the space shuttle. (and if they say yes, call me, I want to go!) You may not get to test drive it, but it may propel you to get your engineering degree or maybe be the Tour Director at The Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.

  5. What Time is It? Do we really have the time to do things we are not passionate about? We only have 4,160 Saturdays in our lifetime. You do the math.
